Happy Mother’s Day! I’ve added a few new stills to the gallery and I’ve got an extended sneak peek video from Danai’s upcoming movie All Eyez On Me! In it, she portrays Afeni Shakur, mother of late rapper Tupac Shakur. All Eyez On Me will be in theaters June 16, 2017.

Last night, Danai was honored at the NYU Tisch School of the Arts 2017 Gala along with fellow actor and alum Andre Holland. Danai was presented with the Big Apple Award for Artistic Achievement.
Gurira, who graduated in 2004, flew in for the gala, as she is currently filming Marvel’s Black Panther in Atlanta. “I’m just very thankful I made it here,” she told The Hollywood Reporter upon arrival. “My employers were very kind to help me get out in time to make it to this and to go back to shoot again tomorrow morning. It was a close call, but they got me here.” Source: THR
“It is an astounding honor to receive this award,” said Danai Gurira, Tisch alumna and actress, The Walking Dead. “Tisch is my artistic home – being there always felt intrinsically right. Tonight, episode 15 of The Walking Dead airs! Michonne will be back on our screens again, and we’ll get to see what happens when the group goes out on a mission, presumably to acquire weapons and make allies with the Oceanside community. The show airs tonight at 9/8c on AMC!

AMC released 2 new videos today, giving us more insight into the second half of season 7 on The Walking Dead! The first video is a promo for the midseason premiere, and features commentary from the cast and show creators. The “Fighting For A Future” promo video features some never-before-seen footage from upcoming episodes. We are now only 10 days away from the midseason premiere! 😀
