Last night, Danai was honored at the NYU Tisch School of the Arts 2017 Gala along with fellow actor and alum Andre Holland. Danai was presented with the Big Apple Award for Artistic Achievement.

Gurira, who graduated in 2004, flew in for the gala, as she is currently filming Marvel’s Black Panther in Atlanta. “I’m just very thankful I made it here,” she told The Hollywood Reporter upon arrival. “My employers were very kind to help me get out in time to make it to this and to go back to shoot again tomorrow morning. It was a close call, but they got me here.” Source: THR

“It is an astounding honor to receive this award,” said Danai Gurira, Tisch alumna and actress, The Walking Dead. “Tisch is my artistic home – being there always felt intrinsically right. It is a place of growth and nurturing. I am a Tisch grad and proud of it for life.” Gurira also shared invaluable advice with current Tisch students on how to grow as actors. Source: NYU|Tisch

Congrats to Danai for this honor! Check out some pictures from the event in the gallery, and a clip of her speech below.

December 3rd, 2016   Author: Tanea   News - The Walking Dead - Videos

New video commentary was released by AMC this week, featuring Danai adding some insight to the sneak peek we saw previously. The scene in this clip is also a little longer than that one, showing Michonne dragging the walkers away at the end. Everything I’ve heard says this episode will be pretty crazy!

AMC also announced that Danai will be live-tweeting during the episode on Sunday night! So here’s your chance to ask her questions and interact with her while the episode airs. I’m excited! 😀

Jessica Chastain to Produce Elephant Poaching Drama Written by Danai Gurira
November 27th, 2016   Author: Tanea   News - Projects

Indiewire reported this week that Jessica Chastain is set to produce a drama based on the true story of the Black Mambas, an all-female group who combat poaching in South Africa, written by Danai Gurira. Jessica Chastain best known for her acting work, appearing recently in “The Huntsman: Winter’s War” and “Miss Sloane.” There is no news just yet on who might direct or star in the project. This is breaking news and the project is in early development, so the details could change, but I’m really excited about this! Very happy to see these two talented women work together!
